Where does the Mountain Home Air Force OSC Welfare Money go..?
The funds raised by the MH OSC through the Thrift Shop, Mountain Home Enlisted Spouses Club (MH ESC) and the enormously successful and popular Annual Auction have made a huge difference in our local community.
Scholarship Awards - In May 2009 the MH OSC, in combination with the MH ESC and the agents in the Mountain Home First Command Financial Planning office, were able to award $22,000 in college scholarships. Thirteen students benefited from these scholarships ranging in size from $500 to $4,500. Recipients were High School seniors, military spouses and Vo-Tech students. The only requirement is that applicants be holders of a valid military or dependant's ID card. The funds that the OSC contributed to this rewarding endeavor was certainly money well-earned and well-spent!
And so much more..! - From June 2008 through May 2009, the MH OSC has donated funds to local and military organizations in need. Some of the organizations that benefited from our efforts last year included National Military Family Association, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, Oregon Trail Reading Council, Mountain Home High School Student Government, Gunfighter Attic, Mountain Home High School Choir, Fisher/Nightingale House, Elmore County 4-H Club, Air Force Village, Liberty Chapel VBS, Base Primary School Accelerated Reading Program, West Elementary PTT, and many, many others.
This generosity could only be possible through the selfless and tireless efforts of our members. We work hard, but also play hard, and would not have it any other way. Join us and see why!
